Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had as wonderful of a Thanksgiving as we did.

Today we enjoyed wonderful food, wonderful family and some wonderful friends!

One the way to my parents house we asked the girls what they were Thankful for. Maddie first said she was thankful for Stinky, but then she changed and said she was thankful for her family and Stinky. Maycee said she is Thankful for Valentines??? She keeps telling everyone that she gets her cast off on Valentines, so maybe that's why, but I'm not sure.

I have so much to be thankful for this year. The sweetest, healthy little girls, a loving, dependable husband, a wonderful, supportive family and the best friends. I am also so thankful that we have a steady income, a roof over our heads and the ability to care for our girls. I am also very thankful that I have been able to spend the last year at home with my girls. There is so much more I can't list it all!

I didn't take many pictures today, but I did get a cute one of my dad and the girls with marshmallow noses.

And one of Kaleigh teaching the girls how to set the table.

Tomorrow is Black Friday and I'm not participating. I go every year, but I'm saving money for something special this year and I always end up getting some great deals on stuff that I really don't need. I guess I did participate in a way. I stayed up last night and ordered $12 winter coats for the girls from Gymboree. I will miss it in a way, but it will be nice to be warm and dry in bed instead of out fighting the crowds.

I do want to share my best Black Friday story though. A couple of years ago, Linh and I decided to meet up on Black Friday morning at the Walmart in Beaumont. We had spent Thanksgiving with Guy's family that year. We were in the toy department (to tell you the truth I can't even remember what we were trying to get), but they had $300 laptops that year and the electronics is very close to the toys. People started pushing and hollering, we looked towards electronics and people were throwing the laptops in to the crowd. Next thing we knew people were screaming and scattering and our eyes started to burn. Apparently a cop had decided the crowd was out of control (he was probably right) and he sprayed mace out into the crowd. It burned bad, burned our eyes, burned our noses, but it didn't stop us. We finished shopping (quickly) and paid. The sad thing is the only deals I can remember getting out of that lovely experience is 2 $5 Cabbage Patch Kids, a $10 Tumble Time Tigger and a few movies for $3. So not worth it. And we finished shopping at all the other stores on our list and had lunch before we went home and washed off the mace. When we got home everyone at Guy's Mom's was telling me about the mace incident on the news and I was like yeah I know, smell me!! I can't say that I will miss this chaos tomorrow, but Good Luck to all of you who are going out. I hope you find some great deals!!

And a little more Kennedi. This time with her eyes open. Isn't she precious? Oh wait did I already say that yesterday? Oh well it's the truth.

In total awe of their baby cousin!

More Kennedi Grace

Here are some more pictures of Kennedi. I was too tired to edit the rest last night. She is precious. She has tiny features and the longest little toes. Addison is in love with her 'baby siser.' And Maddie and Maycee think she is the greatest. They started asking the minute they opened their eyes this morning when we are going to see Kennedi and Ashley. Enjoy!

Twilight, Haircuts and Poo!

First off, I haven't had the best afternoon-not the worst either-but anyway.
1. I found a great art table on sale at Pottery Barn Kids for $130. It would have been a great Christmas present for our little artists (and I wouldn't have minded getting all the art off the kitchen table). It had a few tiny dings, but the girls would marker it up in no time anyway. It's an art table after all. Anyway I finally talked myself into it a couple of hours after I saw it, Guy agreed to it and I went to get it, but by the time I got to the mall it was already gone:(
2. Don't tell Guy, but I accidentally hit his truck mirror with my Tahoe
mirror while I was talking on the phone to my Mom and trying to back out of the
driveway. In my defense, he did park a little crooked. It didn't hurt
either mirror much.
3. My computer wouldn't recognize my camera when I came to start writing.
4. After I rebooted the computer it wouldn't recognize the wireless mouse
or keyboard even with new batteries. I had to reboot again.

Even with my afternoon problems Ashley definitely wins the bad day award. When she put Addison down for a nap today, she pooped, took off her pullup and tried to clean it up herself. The things I can remember Ashley saying there was poop on were the bedspread, toys, the dresser, a baby doll, some clothes hanging in the closet and the carpet. As a matter of fact, there was so much on the carpet that Addison put on her crocs to try to keep it off her feet. Can't you see it naked baby, full of poo, wearing crocs. I guess Addison wanted to end her only child days with a bang!

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday, we had a busy day. Guy went fishing at daylight and then came home and hung our Christmas lights on the house. We had to guard the bottom of the ladder because Maycee was just itching to get on the roof with Guy.

Last night we went to Mom and Dad's house to watch football. When Kaleigh got off work, I went with her and my Mom to see Twilight. It was a great movie. If you haven't yet you should read the books and see the movie. I enjoyed the books more than any book I have read in a while. They are the kind that keep you up all night because you just can't stop reading and then when they are done you wish you had read them slower because you don't want it to be over. The guys watched the girls. This is what we found when we came home.
Aren't they sweet.

Today the girls got haircuts. Maycee got 2" cut off and Maddie got 3" cut off. She wanted more off and I wanted less, so we compromised.

Maddie before.

Didn't he do a great job.

Maddie After.

She said it was a model haircut.

Maycee Before.

Maycee After.

She wasn't too happy that it was time to go to bed.

Tomorrow is the big day. Ashley is being induced. I can't wait to meet my new niece. The girls can't wait to meet their new cousin. It will be an exciting day. I will post pictures as soon as I can. Oh and according to Addison her baby sister is coming on an airplane tomorrow.

CVS Extra Care Bucks

Okay, All this time I have been throwing away these Extra Care Bucks that print out with your receipt at CVS. What was I thinking? My Mom told me about this deal at CVS this week where you go in and buy $20 worth of Duracell batteries and use a $5 off coupon that they have on the shelf at the store. When you pay a $15 extra care buck prints out and you can use it to buy more batteries with the coupon again which makes them free. You can repeat this a total of three times per CVS card. So I got all these batteries for $20.52 and I have a $15 extra care buck to spend on next week' s promotional items. This deal is already over, but here is a website that lists the free deals every weekhttp://www.sisterlysavings.net/. I always enjoy getting things for Free! Thanks Mom!

Yesterday Maddie brought home a picture from school. It is a picture of our family and our Thanksgiving Table.

I love little kid art. It is always so cute and usually amuses me. I didn't laugh at it in front of Maddie, she is always extremely proud of her art and wouldn't take well to laughing, but.....

1. Why is the cat at the table? He has never had Thanksgiving dinner with us. When these were hanging on the wall at school I wonder if hers was the only one that included the family pet who happens to be named Stinky (don't you want him to have Thanksgiving dinner with you) at the table?

2. Why are me and Stinky standing on people's heads? (Actually I was thinking this when she brought the picture home, but I've since realized that we usually all take a picture behind the table and that is most likely what she was trying to imitate.)

3. Her food choices are very interesting. Spanish rice, spaghetti, potato salad, meatballs, tomatoes and carrots/cucumber and ranch dip. There is also one strange sausage looking thing in the center that she said was bones (ribs). Now that would be a Thanksgiving dinner to remember.

Now this is a piece of art that I will definitely be saving. It is adorable!!!

Update on Maycee's Wrist

She doesn't seem like it hurts her too much. We had maybe three incidents where she turned it wrong and had some pain, but other than those times she was in a great mood and very playful. On the other hand, she is already tired of having the cast on. She started about 8:15am asking if we could take it off now every 30 minutes or so. I tried to explain that it had to stay on for days not minutes, but she doesn't really have any concept of time and besides that I didn't think to specifically ask the doctor how long it has to stay on. All I know is we have to go back in 10 days, I had assumed that was when she would get it off, but now I realize that doesn't seem like enough time. I guess we will find out.

These are the clothes Maycee picked out when I told her she couldn't play with markers in her good clothes. Later she wasn't happy because Guy made her change to go to Academy with him. She thought she looked great.

Uh, Oh...It's Broken

See yesterday's post for how it happened.....but after 5.5 hours in 2 different doctors offices today Maycee has a cast on her left wrist. Anyone want to guess what color she chose?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
You're right, Pink! How did you guess?

She hardly slept last night and she was miserable this morning. We had to go to the pediatrician first. By the time we got to the orthopedic doctor this afternoon she was happy as could be and moving that little wrist all over. I was convinced it wasn't broken. Even the doctor was amazed about how she was able to move it without pain. The girl has a High Tolerance for pain. I can tell you without any doubt that she did not inherit that trait from me.

Did you notice how the cast matches her bow? It wasn't planned I promise, but she'll probably wearing that bow quite a bit for a while.

Today was Maddie Thanksgiving feast. She made a 'shape' hat to wear for the feast. What happened to Pilgrims and Indians. Does that offend someone, too? Why have a hat at all if its not pertaining to Thanksgiving. Don't worry, I told Maddie how much I loved her shape hat.

Maycee's Not So Great Idea

This is the aftermath of Maycee stacking the pink (round) stool on top of the purple (rectangle) stool to get down a pair of shoes. Obviously it didn't work out as she had planned and she fell. She hurt her wrist and cried and cried and cried. She was pitiful. She says it "hurts very, very bad," but she can move it. We were torn about whether or not to take her to urgent care, but decided to wait and see how she feels in the morning. She is such a little daredevil....and she usually doesn't cry unless she is really hurt, so I know it is hurting her. I just hope it's not broken. She didn't cry this much when she tried to fly (like Peter Pan) off of Addison's play kitchen last year and broke her collar bone. The good news is that she is sleeping peacefully now with her wrist in an ace bandage. Hopefully it will feel all better in the morning.

A Beautiful Cake for Daddy

Yesterday afternoon I let the girls make Guy a birthday cake. I let Maycee pick out the cake, icing and decorations the day before. (Okay, well, I did guide her a little. Her first choice was pink icing. Of course.)

I bought this icing for them to write with, but it wasn't good for kids. The little spout you have to bend like squeeze cheese if very hard to bend. I had to help Maddie get it started and then she kept forgeting how to make it stop. The green writing is supposed to say Daddy.

So here is the final product.....Isn't it beautiful!

By the way, I put the icing on for them and I am very aware that I am no better at cake decorating than my 4 and 6 year olds are!!!
