The Cast is Off

Maycee's cast is off. She was not very happy about it though. She started getting very upset and saying that her arm hurt. It's not 100 % healed, but he put her in a brace instead of a cast and she only has to wear it for 2 more weeks. After that, we have to wait an additional 4 weeks to go back for another x-ray because the bone didn't heal quite straight and we have to make sure it straightens up on its own.

The Saw. She didn't like it today any better than she did a couple of weeks ago, but she didn't cry. Being Silly with her cast. She insisted on keeping this one too because "it says Kay-Kay loves me!" (We had all signed it on Christmas Day and Kaleigh wrote I Love You.)

Washing that stinky arm. The whole room was smelly when they cut that thing off. I sure am glad we can take the brace off and wash her arm every night.

Her Bubble Bath that I had promised her when she first got her cast and found out she couldn't play in the tub. She stayed in there for at least an hour. The water was freezing by the time she got out.
Sadly, this isn't our first broken bone.

This is Maddie in 2006 with her broken foot. She stepped off a mat wrong on her first day of cheernastics class. It was about a month before Ashley and Adam's wedding, her and Maycee were the flower girls and she still had the cast for the wedding. I'm sure Ashley was real excited about that.
And here is Maycee when she broke her collar bone in 2007. She jumped off Addison's play kitchen and landed wrong. She told us she was trying to fly like Peter Pan. How is it that some families never have a broken bone and we've already had three? Well, at least they keep us guessing by breaking different bones.

And so Maddie's not left out today, she played Moon Sand while Maycee was enjoying her bubble bath. (Thanks for the present Aunt Lynn and Uncle Steve.)

More Christmas

I had set out to make several gifts for people this year, but life got in the way and I didn't finish everything I had planned. I did finish these for my Mom though. I also made Kaleigh one like the black one except the fabrics are opposite. (They are t-shirts. It's hard to tell the way I folded the shirts.)

I also finished some other gifts that I can't post yet, because I haven't given them out. Can't spoil the surprise:} The best thing is I got an embroidery machine for Christmas from Guy, so hopefully next year and can make lots of cool gifts.

Me and Ashley made this platter for Mom and Dad at Color Me Mine. We took the girls in early in the day and did their handprints, then we left them with the guys and went back alone to do the rest of the painting. They have all kinds of supplies to choose from and you just paint it, leave it there and go back 1 week later and it is all baked for you. We ended up having a blast that night. It really is a cool place. Maddie and Maycee have been wanting to try it out. I'm considering taking them tomorrow or Tuesday.

Kaleigh bought Maddie and Maycee digital cameras. They had fun tonight taking pictures of everyone while we were at my parents house watching the Cowboys get crushed. Maddie mentioned again that she wants to start a blog (and she wants to buy her own photoshop with her Christmas money). We'll have to see about the blog. What on earth would a 6 year old blog about? She is very determined though!

Tomorrow is a big day for Maycee. We go back to the orthopedic doctor to see if her cast is ready to come off. Keep your fingers crossed. She wants it off so bad. (I do too, you should smell that thing, it is awful. I don't see how she stands to be so close to it all day. We have tried both perfume and febreze to help the smell without much success.) At least if she can't get it off tomorrow she can at least get it changed and we can start fresh with a new one.

And a few more of my favorite pics from Christmas...

Christmas

We are very blessed to have had a wonderful Christmas this year. I hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas as well.

Maddie and Maycee really enjoyed Christmas this year. They were very excited and appreciative of every gift they received.

Look at that pure joy!!!

Christmas morning it was no surprise that Maycee woke up first. She came to get us up and I asked her if she heard Santa last night. She said know, but she knew he came because he drank the milk. She could see the milk from the hallway so I just assumed she hadn't been out to the living room yet. I told her to wait while I got my video camera, and we could go see what Santa brought. She said okay, "I didn't see my bike and I definitely didn't see that iron table." Ha! This was the first year she to look before she woke us up.

We spent most of the day at home letting the girls enjoy all their new toys, and in the afternoon we went to my parents house for Christmas dinner.

The last two days we have hung out around the house and the girls have been enjoying every toy they received.

Twas the Night Before Christmas....

and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.
The children were nestled all snug in the beds as visions of sugarplums danced in their heads....

Before bed the girls put out cookies and chocolate milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Maddie was very adamant that we have at least 8 carrots because "that's how many reindeer their are."

Maddie wrote this letter to Santa and both her and Maycee signed it. She needed help with spelling some words, but the wording and content was all her idea.

Santa has already been to our house, and as you can see he did honor Maycee's strange request and leave her a new pillow:)

This is the gingerbread house we made today. It was much more difficult than it looked like it would be, but we had fun and it kept the girls occupied until Guy got home from work.

Aren't these mugs cute. My friend Mickie painted these for us. They have each of our names on them. We will be having hot chocolate in them tomorrow morning. Thanks Mickie!

Here are just a few pictures from today. I will do a slideshow later of some other cute ones.

Done Shopping, Done Wrapping, Finally!!!

I'm so glad I'm done shopping and wrapping! I would still be wrapping, but I finally realized that most of the gifts are going to stay wrapped and pretty for less than 24 hours, so I decided that only the gifts that are leaving our house needed bows. I'm pretty sure that no one opening gifts in this house except me will even notice!

Here is the finished product. I'm kinda sad that it will all be destroyed by this time tomorrow. I need to remember to wrap earlier next year so I can enjoy looking at the presents. Maycee wants me to get everyone's presents except hers and Maddie's out from under the tree so Santa doesn't think they already have too much!

We took Maddie and Maycee to the dollar store to buy presents for everyone. They have all their presents wrapped up and under their own trees.

Tomorrow we have lots of baking to do in the morning while Guy is at work. We started tonight, but we're not done. Guy helped me make two batches of Fudge. We ruined two boxes of almond bark (don't try to mix two brands together and melt, It Doesn't Work). Since we had an over abundance of chocolate chips and no almond bark we tried melting chocolate chips and dipping the pretzels in that. The girls had a great time doing it, but they don't taste so good.
Maycee dipping pretzels and singing Jingle Bells.

Tomorrow is a big day. The girls are very excited!
Merry Christmas Everyone!

Santa

We finally took the girls to see Santa. We have never waited this late, but with Maycee being sick we had no other choice. We only had to wait about an hour, but it was worth it. He really talked to them and spent time with them. The whole setup had a Polar Express theme and while we were in line they talked to the train conductor for a while. He was funny. Maycee was telling him all kinds of random stuff. I forgot to get out my camera so we don't have any pics of him.

Right before we got to Santa there was a snow globe and it had fake snow falling. It was cute, but you didn't have much time to get cleaned off before your picture!
Maddie asked Santa for a DS and an Ipod. Maycee asked for a Bike, a DS, an Ipod (at least she's not calling it an ear pod anymore), some fufume (perfume), a watch and a new pillow. We don't know why she wants a new pillow. We asked and she just said she needed a better one that was more comfortable. I bet Santa didn't get too many other requests for pillows this year!
I'm almost done shopping! Why do I always wait until the last minute? I've been shopping 100's of times, but I can't ever decide on just the right gift. I keep going back to the same stores. I do it every year, and every year I promise myself I'm not going to do it the next year.

School's Out

Yesterday was Maddie's Shoe Box parade at school. Evidently we I didn't do such a good job of attaching her pull string because it came undone at the end of the parade and she had to carry her box the rest of the way. Oh well, I'll know better next year.

Here she is modeling her new jammies before she left for school. She was very excited about them when she woke up. I was worried she would wish she could wear Hannah Montana or something else store bought, but when I offered for her to wear something else she said she liked what I made better. Isn't that sweet? I'm sure it won't last too much longer, but I sure am gonna enjoy it while it lasts.
And her and Maycee together. Maycee was dressed to go to the doctor. She isn't completely well. He said she still needed some "fine tuning." So we have some new prescriptions and we are hoping she will be back to normal very soon.

Today Maddie had a sing-a-long and her Christmas party.

My Newest Project

Maddie has DEAR day today at school. That's Drop Everything and Read. She is supposed to wear PJ's & Slippers and bring a pillow and blanket. She is also supposed to bring books and they are going to read all morning and have their shoebox parade this afternoon. Last night I made her some matching pj's, bows and a pillowcase.

Maycee has her follow-up doctor's appt. this morning. I sure hope they say her lungs are sounding better.
